Through the Big Sister, Little Sister Mentorship Programme and partnerships with NGOs, TECBO keeps girls in school and improves maternal and child health.
From greening projects and climate talks to lobbying for the Dariqa borehole — TECBO protects Mandera's environment and prepares communities for climate change.
TECBO trains women in income-generating skills, facilitates women-only peace dialogues, and champions gender equality across all its programmes.
Invited by Inter-Peace, TECBO's Zahara Bashir presented a documentary showing how she personally reconciled two warring clans on her Yabicho farm. The four villages — locked in a dispute over water and natural resources — agreed to share, inspired by what they saw.
PeacebuildingPartnering with Al Ansar Welfare, TECBO mentored 440 girls across five schools — Rhamu Girls Secondary, Rhamu Mixed Day, Ladeni Primary, Shantoley Primary, and Daua Mixed Day — on menstrual health, hygiene, and environmental responsibility.
Girls & HealthAfter months of advocacy and lobbying by TECBO, a borehole was drilled at Dariqa in Girissa location — officially commissioned by Ambassador Fouzia Abass. Over 6,000 people now have access to sustainable, safe water.

In just three years, she has been appointed to the Mandera County Education Taskforce by the Governor, resolved inter-clan conflicts through the power of storytelling, facilitated peace for hundreds of community members with Inter-Peace, and successfully advocated for a borehole that now provides clean water to over 6,000 people. She was recognised at the International Women's Day 2024 celebrations for her efforts in transforming lives.
